Tapered plaid trousers paired with tunics or button down shirts were popular as were pleated skirts and bib-front and collared dresses. Dresses that could be worn several ways with aprons and jumpers were also popular. As were slim skirts with tab details. Blazers and slacks with bow ties were perfect for formal occasions, while cuffed jeans were great for casual wear and playtime. Nautical stripes, sailor suits and ship flag signal shirts were popular as well. Dresses and tops with special collar detailing, along with pleated skirts and button accents demonstrated playful spring fashions for girls.
The sailor look and brightly striped dresses were also fashionable. Extreme or unusual haircuts are not permitted. Socks must be worn. Thong sandals are not to be worn.
For Boys: 1. Dungarees, shorts, and Beatle-boots are not acceptable. Faces are to be clean-shaven. Sport shirts may be worn, but fully buttoned. For Girls: 1. Make-up is to be kept in moderation.
Skirts and dresses shall be worn at a proper length for teenagers. The plaid faded when washed -- that was part of the attraction. Girls and boys both adapted looks from Beatlemania, such as the Breton-style cap favored by John Lennon; boys wore "Beatle boots" and girls wore white go-go boots -- if they could get their parents to go along with the idea and the expense. For gym class, there were no must-have sneaker options, though -- just basic Keds-style tennis shoes, in black or white.
